THE Pilgrims produced a stoic display in coming from behind to beat a very competent and physically powerful Bristol Rovers side at Tavistock’s Langsford Park.
It was a second fixture in four Youth Alliance outings for Argyle and the major plaudits go to Rubin Wilson, who scored both our goals after falling behind to a Lucas Tomlinson strike on 15 minutes.
Rovers were always a threat going forward but massive credit to the Argyle defence for their tenacious and disciplined approach to the game.
Wilson’s leveller arrived on 37 minutes, when the pounced on a loose clearance and Rio Garside then had a shot well blocked. The winning goal arrived in first-half stoppage time and while Wilson’s final shot took a deflection, it was all about a flowing passing move in the build up.
The second period remained an entertaining affair and a credit to both sides, but no more goals ensured the points stay with Argyle.
